Many people think that the solution to the restrict-binge cycle is found in changing what, when, and how much you eat. I think this approach doesn't get to the root of the problem. I believe your binges are like the warning lights on a dashboard. They tell you that there is something going on underneath the hood. The answer doesn't lie in trying to change the lights – we want to get under the hood and figure out why the lights are coming on in the first place.
Tune in and start to get curious about your own warning signs and how to avoid binge eating by getting to its root cause. Ask yourself, “Why am I eating so much all of a sudden?” rather than focusing on food.
