So many trails to explore including working on completing the section of the North Country Trail that spans northern Wisconsin.
So many new interests to explore as I transition into retirement at the end of May. Orienteering and kayaking are 2 new interests I have started to develop in 2024.
Mine is self-compassion. My goal this year is to make the internal conversations kinder, while still maintaining a firmness to help me reach my goals. This means asking myself the questions of why and what's this really about before diving into emotional eating or self-destructive behavior. I want it to be a nurturing, helpful voice though, not one berating me for my shortcomings. No more "well, you blew that you idiot!" and instead "wow, that was a rough time, what brought that about?"
Karen - this is such a beautiful word for you and will create some massive shifts for you. When your nervous system really starts to learn that it's safe to open up and explore, so much can be revealed and healed. I was talking to a client today about this powerful truth: "your body hears everything you say".
With the absence of my BED no longer consuming my days, I’ve been able to focus on my authentic self and sink into the joy of who I’m meant to be, who I once was and I feel RESTORED !
What an exciting year this is going to be! Discovering so many lost pieces of my life that I’ve missed for so many years. Restoring my spirit to freely be present each day without the dark and ugly veil of binge eating.
I had previously chosen Calm during a call, however, I think that fulfilled will be more appropriate. I even pondered content, and a thesaurus search of that word came up with fulfilled. I want my efforts to be enough in my heart and in my mind. If I can truly believe that it is enough, and I continue to move forward, then I hope to feel fulfilled. With myself, my work, my everything!
Nourishing thoughts, choices, and actions. Nourishing my connections and relationships with my environment, others, and self. Nourishing my core values, which include mindfulness and openness.
