From Triggered to Trust: It's Time to Write a Book
Join me behind the scenes as I write the book I wish I had.
Have you ever wished for a book that truly understood your struggle with food? I'm writing that book, and I want you to be part of the process.
How it all started
Every journey begins with a single step, and mine started with a New Year's resolution. As 2024 began, I set a goal to write a book—a goal that felt both exciting and daunting. I envisioned a leisurely writing process throughout the year, culminating in a 2025 publication to coincide with my 50th birthday celebrations.
But life has a way of accelerating our plans. A few months ago, I found myself at Rich Litvin's coaching intensive, surrounded by like-minded individuals passionate about growth and transformation. Rich's emphasis on courage and connection resonated deeply with me, and I started looking for ways to practice courage.
When Rich announced a program to write a short book, it felt like God was giving me a nudge. This wasn't just an opportunity—it was an invitation to step out of my comfort zone and bring my vision to life sooner than I'd imagined.
Today marks the beginning of this journey. It's a sprint, not a marathon, and I'm diving in headfirst. The book I've been dreaming about is no longer a distant goal—it's becoming a reality, right here, right now. And I want you to be part of this exciting process.
My current emotional state
I am practicing the skill of allowing multiple emotions as I prepare for this process. Here are just a few of the emotions that are coming up for me:
excited, committed, nervous, open, curious, uncertain, trusting
A couple of weeks ago I did a podcast about confidence where I mentioned that the first step to confidence is commitment. The next step is courage - the courage required to follow through on the commitment. This will create capability, and then confidence will come at the end.
Right now I feel committed and courageous. And also nervous and uncertain. I’m open to how this will unfold and I’m trusting that this book will be helpful for at least one person out there.
What’s the book about?
I'm writing the guide I desperately needed during my darkest moments with food. It's about:
Stopping the feeling of being out of control around food
Understanding that you aren’t broken
Discovering the missing pieces: safety and trust - with yourself and with food
Moving beyond the cycle of restriction and binge eating
Cultivating connection with yourself and with others so that you no longer need to disconnect with food
Come along for the ride
Creating a new relationship with food requires connection. So why not use connection through the process of writing about it? I’d love to connect with you through the process and get your feedback and response.
Creating a new relationship with food also requires safety. Writing this book will require safety for me. I figure if you resonate with me enough to consider a paid subscription, you will be kind and respectful in any comments and feedback.
