I'm making changes to the Peaceful Eater, and I want to share them with you!
I’m always trying to make this space better for you and more inclusive.
When I started the Peaceful Eater here on Substack, it was a place to document my journey of recovery from 25+ years of binge eating disorder and for others to get help specifically with binge eating.
We’ll continue to talk about binge eating and it’s my passion to help women understand why they binge eat and how to stop.
The Binge Breakthrough podcast will continue with new episodes each Wednesday. These episodes will continue to focus on finding freedom from binge eating and other food related struggles.
But it doesn’t stop there. There is a reason why we disconnect with food - whether it is disconnection through binge eating or any other disconnected eating experience.
We won’t just talk about binge eating.
When you aren’t obsessed with food all of the time life gets bigger.
This is a place where you will learn how to stop disconnecting with food and start connecting with the one precious life you have.
We heal in community and we heal through connection.
My goal is to create a community of people who want to create more connections - with themselves, with their bodies, with other people - and who want to live a full life. I want this to be a space where we can talk about the things in life that are important, impactful and insightful.
I want to create a community where there is more engagement, more connection, and more people creating an intentional life. There will be plenty of talk about eating, but also talk about relationships, goals, confidence, growth, rest and how to live your one life in a way that feels nurturing, supportive and sustainable.
If you disconnect with food or you disconnect from your body in any way - this space is for you.
I remember when I was struggling most with binge eating I wouldn’t comment or engage in any group where my name might be associated with binging because I had so much shame about it. I want to expand this community so that everyone can feel free to engage and discuss in a way that feels connected and inclusive.
All humans disconnect sometimes. We disconnect with food and we disconnect from our bodies. I want to help you understand why, and how to re-establish a nurturing and supportive connection with yourself.
With all of this said - I’m considering changing the name of this publication to include the importance of connection. If you listened to the podcast this week, you heard me say that connection is the closest thing to a magic pill you can find. For ANY ailment.
The Case for Connection or Connected & Confident would make the central theme of the content connection - not just with food or eating, but with all aspects of life, including our relationship with food.
Please take this poll!
Help me decide whether to change the name of the publication!
The options are:
The Peaceful Eater: Maintains current focus but may limit those who choose to engage
The Case for Connection: Broadens scope to include more topics and people
Connected and Confident: Broad scope while also bringing in the crucial element of confidence (check out last week’s podcast episode for more on this topic!)
Other: Do you have a suggestion that I haven’t considered?
Whatever the name is,
I’d love to hear from you - what are your thoughts about the name and what would you love to hear more about as you discover how to stop disconnecting with food and start connecting with life?
Leave a comment with your thoughts on the name change and any topics you'd like to see covered in the future.
If you want to see how these changes unfold in the coming weeks and months, be sure you are subscribed so that you receive updates delivered to your inbox.
Jane, peace is key for me. That is what I am looking for and striving for with food, so I love the title as is, but can see the need for connection as well. My suggestion would be "The Peaceful Connection" or "Peace through Connection."
Love this idea. Binging for me , has always just been a symptom. I never knew of what , until I started working with you . Personally I have gained so much with the wider scope of the work we have been doing in Cultivate. Understanding my self and slowly connecting to who I am .
