I’m curious of the correlation between peri menopause and being childfree in terms of onset, and possibly duration- specifically I wonder if I am going into peri quite early (36) since I did not have children. Thank you for the great read!
Hi and thanks for the question. In my research I have not seen anything linking being childfree with early onset menopause and anecdotally from women that I've talked to I've seen the full range. Some women with children have early menopause and some don't. Are you able to ask your mother her experience? Early menopause onset typically runs in families.
But more importantly if you think you're going to reach menopause early before the age of 45 it's important to work with a physician who understands this. Reaching menopause too early (esp. before 40) can have long-term health consequences so a doctor who understands this and knows what to do for you can help prevent issues. Feel free to reach out via DM or reply to any newsletter ( if you're a The Periprofessional subscriber) if you need any clarification to this comment. Best, Shelby

Thank you for collaborating and bringing this important information together.
Thanks, Dianne! It goes to show how far-reaching perimenopause is.
I love that we are now talking about it and getting it out in the open. No more suffering in silence.
Exactly! There are FAR too many women suffering in silence! And suffering from lack of information, or even worse, misinformation.
Together we will change that!
Yes! Love all of this!! I'm giddy excited to see this collaboration.
Maybe we need to start a club?
I like this idea Jess! I love the awareness you are bringing into this world!
