My Story

I remember the aftermath of my first binge so clearly: sitting on the floor of my dorm room in college, with an open box in front of me and empty fun-sized candy bars strewn all around me. I had eaten the entirety of a care package sent to me from a church I attended once and could not believe what I had just done.

I spent the next 25 years trying to stop bingeing, going through specialty providers, books, podcasts and two rounds of intensive outpatient therapy at a local eating disorder treatment center. I'd have some periods of "success" but would always end up bingeing again.

I was very successful on the outside, but I felt hopeless and out of control on the inside. I was married for years before I told my husband about what I did with food. I was so sure that he wouldn't love me anymore if he knew what I did in secret (that was not the case–he was instrumental in my recovery).

I didn't give up, though, and I finally discovered the missing pieces of safety and trust as I learned about the nervous system and began to truly understand my binge eating for the first time. Once I understood myself, I was able to transform myself.

Turns out it was never about the food after all.

Now, my passion is helping other smart, successful women who have been struggling (often for decades) find their missing pieces so they can become peaceful eaters and live the life of their dreams.

I have an amazing husband and two cute cats.
